No 1: It gives passengers better vantage point. As compared to an in dash car DVD player, a roof mount DVD player provides passengers a better view of the screen. Since the device is placed on the roof of the vehicle, it will be much easier even for those sitting at the back to see what's going on. So if the person you're planning to give a present to owns a larger vehicle, like a minivan for instance, this type of DVD player is definitely suited for him or her.

No 2: It provides hours of entertainment. This holiday season, it is common for many Australian families to go on a road trip and experience the great outdoors. If the lucky recipient has similar plans with his family, giving him this device as an early Christmas present will certainly make the trip more enjoyable for everyone. It is because the DVD player can provide them with hours of entertainment as they make their way towards their destination.

The roof mounted car DVD player is a versatile entertainment device that is capable of many things. Aside from letting them watch their favourite movies on the go, they can also listen to CDs and MP3s while travelling. The DVD player is also a treat for kids because it supports 32-bit games that the children can play. Or if they have game consoles, they can connect their Playstation or Xbox into the device to enjoy better gaming experience.

No 3: It adds value to any vehicle. A DVD player with car roof mount flip down monitor makes an excellent Christmas gift because it makes cars and other types of vehicles more valuable. With such an excellent entertainment device, the recipient of your gift can fetch a better selling price for his vehicle in case he decides to sell it in the future.

How to Set Up a Roof Mount DVD Player

Setting up a roof mount DVD player may look extremely challenging at first. However, it is actually easy, as long as you have the right tools, equipment, and the necessary DIY skills and experience. If you think you possess them in spades, then you can definitely give the installation process a shot. If not, you can always ask a professional installer to do it for you. But for those who are willing to do the installation on their own, here's a quick guide to help you out.

Step No 1. First, make sure that all the parts that come with the device are present and accounted for. Otherwise, it will be difficult to complete the installation process if there's one spare part, like a small screw perhaps, missing. Also, check the user's manual and see if there are special instructions that you need to follow before or during the installation process.

Step No 2. Choose the place where you want to place the roof mounted DVD player. Use a cutting template as your guide when marking the spot where the part of the roof's upholstery should be removed. After deciding where to place the DVD player, cut the upholstery about the size of the device's mounting bracket. Then, drill four holes that are about one centimetre deep on the exposed metal parts of the roof of the car. Attach the metal bracket to the roof, making sure that it is screwed in tightly.

Step No 3. Drop one side of the headliner to expose the wires in your car and locate your car's fuse box. It is advisable that you temporarily diffuse your vehicle's vanity light so you'll have more room to move. Afterwards, remove the lower and upper trim panels along the line of the sun visor. Unscrew the remaining clips, screws, and kick panel over the fuse box. Insert the extension lead into the space created by the metal bracket and pull it carefully until it reaches the area where the fuse box is located.

Step No 4. Connect one end of the extension lead to your car's power source. Then, wire the audio and the power wires of the DVD player. Attach the device's black wire to any grounded bolt or nut in your vehicle. Then, cut the ends of the audio and power wires and secure them with electrical tape. When you're done, conceal the wires behind the kick panel.

Step No 5. Reattach the lower and upper trim panels, as well as the vanity light. Place the DVD player in car roof mount device to its installation frame. Don't forget to screw it in tightly. Connect the other end of the extension lead to the monitor of the DVD player. Once you're done, attach the installation frame and the DVD player to the metal bracket. Make sure that it is secured to the roof of your car so it won't fall off. Switch the device on to see if it is working properly. If there are no problems with the installation, you can now start using the device to watch your favourite movies.
